Trying Something New: Welcome to Upwell

Trying Something New: Welcome to Upwell

Starting something new is exciting, but it's also a little scary- especially when you're still figuring out what exactly it will become.

I'm a social worker, therapist, a mom, and someone who has always enjoyed creating things. Most days, my brain is balancing work, family, schedules, and the approximately 47 things I meant to do earlier. Somewhere in the middle of all that, Upwell started taking shape.

At first, I began creating therapy resources because I wanted tools that felt useful, approachable, and realistic. I wanted things that therapists could actually use in sessions and that people could understand without feeling like they were reading a textbook.

Then I started experimenting with merchandise.

Honestly it has been really fun!

I love coming up with new ideas that make mental health feel a little less heavy. Creating things that are relatable, encouraging, or just funny enough to make someone feel seen. Sometimes wearing something that says what you're thinking can create small moments of connection with another person.

Now I'm adding blog posts to the mix, too.

I want this to be a place where I can share helpful information, ideas, behind the scenes thoughts, experiences, creativity, and probably a few sessions I learn while trying to build something new.don’t have every detail figured out yet. I’m learning about websites, digital products, print-on-demand merchandise, marketing, and all the little pieces that go into running a small business. Some days I feel really inspired. Other days I open Shopify, stare at the screen, and wonder what I was trying to do in the first place

But I think that’s part of starting something.

Upwell gives me a space to bring together different parts of who I am: a social worker who cares deeply about helping people, a mom navigating real life, and a creative person who enjoys turning ideas into something others can use.

More than anything, I want to connect with people.

This is still a new venture, and I’m sure it will continue to change as I learn what works and what people find helpful. For now, I’m giving myself permission to experiment, be creative, and see where it goes.

Thank you for being here at the beginning. Whether you found Upwell through a therapy resource, a piece of merch, a blog post, or a late-night scroll, I’m glad you’re here.

Here’s to trying something new—even when we don’t have it all figured out yet.
